On August 8, 2023, there will be a special election to change the Ohio constitution. In order to add all future amendments to the constitution Issue I would require the following:
- A 60% supermajority vote to win passage instead of the current simple majority vote of 50% plus 1 (in place for 111 years).
- Signature requirements from all 88 counties to have at least 5% of the eligible voters to place the amendment on the ballot instead of the current requirement of 44 counties.
- No additional signatures to be added after submission if some voters are ineligible (someone dies or moves) instead of the current rule that allows for a grace period to collect more signatures.
July 10 is deadline for voter registration
August 1 absentee ballots must be received by the end of business day.
