Our Christian Beliefs

United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. Our foundational statement of beliefs are located in The Book of Discipline.

Our Wesleyan Heritage

United Methodists trace our heritage back to brothers, John and Charles Wesley who started the Methodist movement in England. They helped lead a movement to “spread Scriptural holiness over the land” which quickly spread to the frontiers of the United States by the early 1800’s.

Social Principals

Methodists from the very beginning have been known as a denomination involved with the political and social struggles of people’s lives. John Wesley set the example for us to combine “holiness of heart and life” with a belief that “the world is our parish.” From local food pantries to missions throughout the world, United Methodists believe we can change the world together because of God’s love in Jesus Christ.
