Messy Church at Garrettsville UMC focused on Holy Week, Passover, The Last Supper, and Communion. Pastor Sandi talked about the Passover meal and symbolism and celebrated Communion. Many crafts focused on the events of Holy Week, as you can see above. A very modern twist was the dessert of “Resurrection Rolls” where a marshmallow (representing Jesus’ body) is coated in melted butter and rolled in cinnamon (representing the anointing and spices of burial). The marshmallow is then wrapped in crescent roll dough (representing the linen wrappings) and baked. When it is cracked open to serve, you discover that Jesus is not there!
