Lenten Sermon Series

Holy Vessels: A Lenten Journey of Recovery

Living on the shores of Lake Erie, we sometimes are lucky enough to find some beach glass. Each piece has a story of transformation embedded in it, changing from just a piece of glass from a bottle somewhere into a beautiful, multi-faceted gem. What a transformation! Each of us is created a precious and holy vessel of God’s embodied love. Our lives take us on journeys of challenging times and sometimes we feel shattered like that piece of glass – fractured in body, mind, and spirit. In this Lenten series we will explore a “season of recovery” for our physical, communal, mental, intellectual, and environmental health, looking to the healing narratives of Jesus that tell of divine solidarity with human suffering. We are reminded that we can begin a journey toward making something beautiful from that which is seemingly broken and become a new precious, shining jewel.
