A new handbell ensemble called the Decibells aims to entertain Lake County with concerts. The Decibells rehearse at Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Martha DiLorenzo, the handbell choir’s founder and director, said that the group “will focus on performing family friendly, entertaining concerts full of pop hits and positive vibes.”
DiLorenzo is very grateful to Chapel UMC for the use of their handbells and helping the ensemble get their start as a community handbell choir. In addition to directing the ensemble, DiLorenzo is conducting a fundraiser campaign to help Decibells purchase its own set of handbells. To help with the campaign, email DiLorenzo at decibellslake@gmail.com or visit Martha’s Buy a Bell Fundraiser for Decibells on Facebook.
The Decibells are preparing for their first community performance scheduled for Saturday, April 1st at 4pm at Chapel United Methodist Church. Admission will be free, with spectators are invited to make donations to the handbell ensemble.
